Wrap a sock around your wrist...

yarn bracelet

After finishing up the winter sock wreath I posted last week, I looked around to see what else I could 'sockify'.  An old bangle sat there staring at me from my jewellery rack.  Worn, discoloured and begging for new life, the sockifying began.

Now covering a bracelet with socks isn't really feasible, well I'm sure it could be, but I went with a simpler approach here, utilizing some left over yarn from the sock wreath.

Take an old bracelet, one that fits over your hand easily.  It will get a little bit tighter once it's wrapped.

The next part is no different then wrapping a yarn wreath.  Tie some yarn around the bracelet hiding the knot in behind, then wrap the yarn around, around, around.... I started with the white, then tied on the red, then tied on white once more,  finished up by using the grey and completing the rest of the bracelet.

Trim off any excess yarn tails.  You can put a dab of clear nailpolish or fabric glue over the knots to keep them secure.

Put it on and show it off.

Pairs well with plaid.

  2. I love this, it reminds me of a sock monkey so I might have to make one for my daughter and her sock monkey toy.
