Not Just a Stuffed Shirt
Ok, maybe it is just a stuffed shirt, but it's surely a great way to upcycle an old garment. Even better when it's free! This of course, isn't a new idea, but it's one worth revisiting when you want to give your decor a boost.
I was given this shirt... it's about a billion sizes too small for my 5"11. Trust me, it's really small.
The ruffles on it were too cute to not make something with it. Pillow time!
I cut off the sleeves, pinned the shirt together inside out, and decided to use the existing lines as my guide for stitching. Easy.Peasy. Stitched and double stitched. No, I didn't measure anything. Hey like I said, the lines were already there....
Cut off excess fabric. No need to worry about an opening for the insert thanks to the existing buttons!
I had some pillow inserts that I wasn't using, so no cost for this project at all. Just a wee bit of time.
Cute! What a great little accent for my bedroom sofa :) Oh, if you are wondering, my sofa is the standard Klippan sofa from Ikea. I dyed my white slipcover in the washing machine with some liquid Rit dye. Isn't it a fab colour?

cute shirt, perfect pillow, bravo
ReplyDeleteOk, that pillow looks great. I would never have thought of turning a shirt into a pillow but you did it beautifully. Second, in my mind, I did not envision you as 5'11". If we ever meet, I'll definitely have to wear my heels :)
ReplyDeleteLol Amy.... and thanks ;)

ReplyDeletePopping over from Shabby Creek Cottage. I chuckled out loud when I read that you don't have to worry about leaving an opening for stuffing because you can simply unbutton the buttons. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I love it! Have GOT to make some of these asap.
