Hair Band Turned Bubble Wand

bubble wand

I saw this pretty bubble wand creation floating around on Pinterest a while back.  It was made by wrapping wire and stringing some beads on the handle to make it really fun.  Naturally, I pinned it and it went on my mental to-do list.  You know the one.  And time passes...

The other day I was standing in front of my jewellery board when something caught my eye.  A beaded hair band.  A beaded hair band acquired from the dollar store.  A beaded hair band, acquired from the dollar store that I had never worn.  A beaded hair band, acquired from the dollar store, that I had never worn, that was of the wired variety.  And yes, that is how my brain talks it out!  Naturally, this all lead to my own frugal version of the pretty beaded bubble wand... all for a buck.

Materials Needed
Beaded wire hair band
Pliers / snips
Dab of hot glue

Here is the hair band I had.  Simple.  White.  Never worn.  To be honest, it dug into the sides of my head a little so I never found it comfortable.

Remove the beads.  This was easy on mine as the end beads were simply glued on and came off by twisting it around a few times.

Twist the wire to make a circle / oval near one end of the wire, leaving a bit of a tail, which you will wrap around what will become the handle of the bubble wand.  You will need the pliers to coil the tail end part that makes up the circle / oval part of the wand.  Trim the handle part of the wand to the desired length.

Reuse the beads from the hair band and thread them onto the wand handle.  Make sure the last bead slightly covers the end of  the wire so there are no sharp edges.  Hot glue the last bead in place.

Go play!
