What to do with Broken Costume Jewellery?
If you are anything like me, you have some broken costume jewellery taking up valuable real estate in your jewellery box.
Bits of this, pieces of that, things you've been meaning to fix for months or longer *eek!*... Well, it's action time! How about turning those broken bits into a new, one of a kind piece?
Check it out. A 'new' necklace just for me! Made from different necklaces, anklets and bracelets. I didn't buy anything for this project. I used existing clasps and jump rings to connect all the bits with a pair of needle nose pliers. That was it!
I think it turned out quite nicely. Mine is a simple design but you could make yours as elaborate as you like! Sorry the photos aren't the best this time around, but I hope they are enough to inspire you to remake some of your own broken jewellery! Cheers!

Very cute, I recycle broken jewelry too. I am cruising around blog land and saw you at I Can't Stop Crafting. If you have not shared this yet at the Bacon Time linky, I would love for you to do so.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Clever! I just bought an outfit for my daughter and the necklace that came with is was broken. What do you suggest for just fixing the chain?
ReplyDeleteHi Steph, I would say, if the chain is made up of links, then see if you can open one up and reconnect it. Otherwise, I would pop by a craft supply store and ask an associate for some assistance in finding an appropriate piece to repair it. Without seeing the chain, it's a little difficult to advise. Cheers ;)
DeleteMost excellent idea! I'm reorganizing my craft room and finding LOTS of old jewelry odds and ends. Remaking them into something new and fun is on my list. Well done!
ReplyDeleteso cute! i love doing this!!! I've recently done some of the same, you can see it at http://twosassysistas.blogspot.com/ ! thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of jewelry already so what I do with my earring that is left after I lose the other one is put it on my little stuffed doggie that I keep on the dash of my van, along with other pieces like the antique worm brooch that fell off my dress I was wearing and landed on the parking lot. When I back tracked looking for it,someone had already ran over it.It seems I have a tendency to lose and destroy valuable pieces, not my costume jewelry.I lost the mate to a pork upine earring recently so my little doggie will be getting it ,too.
