Felt Gift Bow Tutorial

felt gift bow

Felt mania continues here at SaltTree!  I can't help myself lol.  Today, in the wonderful world of felt, we explore gift bows!  This one is a nice big bow measuring about 4.5 inches across, but you could easily shrink it down to make smaller ones.

How awesome would it be to receive a gift with a hand made, reusable gift bow like this?!  To me it says you wanted to make the gift your giving extra special by topping it off with this lovely.

Felt Pinecone Tutorial - Victor

felt pine cone

You may have seen the tutorial for felt pinecones that I recently posted.  I was pretty happy with the final outcome!  It was fun and full and I love the option of having two colours in it,  but I wanted to explore some other methods as well.  So here is felt pinecone tutorial, #2, AKA, Victor!  This one doesn't take as much time to do, and uses less felt, but the end result is pretty awesome!

Berry Medley Muffins

I love muffins.  I mean, I really LOVE muffins.  I make muffins ridiculously often.  So naturally, I thought to share.  That's right, I'm a giver lol.  You may have already seen my blueberry banana muffin recipe.  Well this one is just a tasty variation, good for any of you that aren't comfortable with shaking up a recipe when baking on your own.  It's also pretty low fat :) and jammed with goodness.

Read the full post for the recipe and instructions.

Happy muffin making!

Felt Pinecone Tutorial - Harry

felt pine cone

I've seen some adorable felt pinecones around the web lately that I really wanted to make but tutorials were few and far between.  The few I did find, were hard to follow and lacking any pictures to aid.  I'm a visual person.  I need pictures!

I decided to make my own tutorial and share it with you!  Meet, Harry.  A traditional brown pinecone, but the colour options are of course limited only by your imagination!

Summer Time Wreath

It's been a bit busy around here lately so I haven't been able to post as much as I would like to.  But rest assured, I have been creating!  I wanted to share one of my latest wreaths with you.  I think it's just a pile of lusciously, colourful summer fun!  I officially dub thee, 'Garden Party'.  :)

spring wreath

The 'Home' banner just slips over the wreath so it is removable.  I'm thinking of making it reversible with a four letter (clean lol) word on the other side but I'm a bit stumped.  Any thoughts?

What do you think?  Is it a winner?  If so, I'll do more in this style.  Once the Canada Post strike ends, my Etsy shop will be opening again (finally!) and this wreath will go up for sale.

More creations are underway, along with a tutorial I'm working on for a felt goodie.  Stay tuned!

With love, from Italy.

My dear friend Jenn returned this past week from a month long stay in Italy.  I know.  There is no need to go there lol.  We all wish it was us!  We got to catch up a bit today and I got to hear about some of her adventures abroad.  Jenn is quite the world traveller!

She thoughtfully brought me back some lovely trinkets from various parts of the country.  Yay gifts!!  I thought I would share some pictures of my new goodies.

From Pompeii.  A hand painted piece of art, made using ruins / debris left behind from the catastrophic Mount Vesuvius eruptions in 79 AD.  It's fragile and lovely considering the eerie origins of the materials it's made of.

She also brought me back this lovely hand made scarf.  It's almost a muted sage green in colour.  Isn't it  pretty?  This was picked up on the island of Burano, which is well known for it's lacework.  I will definitely not be wearing this around my little guy Foster.  He's going through a bit of a grabby stage right now (silly monkey).  I may have to tuck it away for the next date night with my husband.

Finally, from Florence (if you hadn't guessed that already) a small cookbook with traditional recipes.  Just like the book title says :)  Perfect for me since I love to cook.

I think I may have to try this one...

Yummmm.... ravioli!  I've never met a anyone who doesn't like pasta!  I like how the measurements read 'a little flour'.  Perfect for me!  I always go off recipes when I cook.  When I'm ready to try this one, I'll try to remember to take a picture and share the results.

Thanks Jenn!  Love you!

I got one!

If you have read any of my earlier posts, you may have seen the one on Postcrossing.  Well, I got my first postcard today!  Here it is!

I was rediculously excited too lol.  It came all the way from Japan from a woman named Yoshi.  It's cool because she wrote on it in Japanese and drew a little picture for me too.  I think the message says something like, 'do your best' or at least that vibe.  I got the gist of it anyhow :).  I've got a few more postcards in transit so we'll see what comes next!

If you aren't familiar with Postcrossing, I encourage you to check it out.  It's pretty neat!
