Latest Creations

So you may have seen a recent tutorial I did on making yarn wreaths.  Well, the creating hasn't stopped lol.  I've made a few more recently and thought I'd share with you.  It's truly been addictive for me!

I'm super proud of this one!  I was afraid the birdhouse would make it look a little cheesy or tacky, but I think it actually came together very well.  I think I'll make more with this style in mind but in different colours.

I still need to come up with a name or title for it for my Etsy shop though.  I welcome any suggestions!

This little ditty on the right, is one I made for a friend of mine.  It's a large straw wreath and it has some nice weight to it so it doesn't blow around too much in windy weather.

She just gave me a rough idea of what she wanted.  Actually, she said, "Something green or blue, colourful and as big as you can make it".  Awesome.  I love being given creative freedom!  So this is what I came up with.  Keep in mind, when we go to get pedicures, she picks what she calls, 'the most obnoxious colour possible' to paint her toes.  So I think this was perfect *giggle*

What's on my own front door you ask?

Well this grape vine wreath with felt flowers adorns my entry.  For now.
I had to wait to hang it as there was a bird making a nest on top of the light right at our front door... we didn't have the heart to move it before she settled in, but I didn't want my newly finished wreath to be a gold mine of twigs for her new home!  That's it for now! I'll be heading to the craft store this weekend though with my list in hand, ready to stock up on some more crafting supplies.  ;)

How Did This Happen...

My oh my.  Foster is over 7 months old already!  I wish I could say he's sleeping through the night... but it's getting better.  He can sit up unassisted for a short period of time, a little longer every day.  He has started 'pulling' himself around the floor and pulls his knees under him like he's going to crawl, but he just hasn't figured out how to move his legs under him while he's up!  And of course, he babbles and talks and screams at his toys lol... rolling all about the floor.  Oh my little baby boy, how far you have come already!

As sad as I am that he is growing so fast, it's so rewarding to get responses from him, smiles, laughter and of course, to hear 'Mumma' *melt*!

Postcrossing. I had no Idea!

A mommy acquaintance of mine introduced me to 'Postcrossing'.  I had no idea what this was.  And now I'm pretty excited to be trying it! Curious?  Go to the Postcrossing website, create an account and a profile.  You can be as detailed or vague as you wish about the information you choose to share.

Next, you request an address and you are emailed one for some random person somewhere in the world who has also signed up for postcrossing (which has close to 225,000 members and growing) and you send them a postcard from your little part of the world.  Neat!

Once you have sent out a postcard and it is in the hands of the recipient, they log it into the Postcrossing website using an ID number to prove receipt of the card, then your address goes into the mix and you'll eventually receive one from somewhere in the world as well!  You can have up to 5 cards in transit at one time.  You can participate as often as you wish or you can do it just once if you decide it's not for you.

I think it's a super fun idea and I've got five post cards ready to go.  But man it was hard to find post cards!  Finally, I found some at a convenience store.  They're a little 'touristy' for my liking, but they'll do just fine.  Some users make special requests asking for landscapes or city views etc.  It's up to you if you want to try and appease their requests.

But what does one write on a postcard to a perfect stranger??  I kinda babbled my way through these ones... but I think in the future, I'll write a fun fact or maybe even a short recipe that I like.  After all, these aren't pen pals and they will not be writing me back, so one shot is all I get.

Here are my pile of cards ready to get posted!  I'll give an update once I receive my first card.  I have noooo idea how long that will take to get one in return.  I'm looking forward to it!

Craft Felt Flower Tutorials - A Compilation

I love making felt flowers soooo much!  It's such an easy project with an almost instant gratification for us sometimes impatient folks :)  Thankfully, there are a ton of wonderful felt flower tutorials out there so no, I'm not going to make my own tutorials (unless I create a flower of my own in the future).  But, I am however, going to compile some of my favourites into one place for you!  Enjoy!

From Will You? To I do!, shares a tutorial for one of my all time favourite felt flower styles.  This lovely has sooooo many possible applications and is so simple to do!  You can do it without the scalloped edge for a different look too.

An absolutely gorgeous felt flower over at Mrs. Priss.  Check out the tutorial for this beauty!

How sweet is this flower!  Tutorial and image courtesy of I Candy Handmade.

The two images above are both from Craft Snob.
Tutorial for the top flat flower here, tutorial for the bottom loopy flower here.

Check out the tutorial for these lovely blooms from Keeping Life Creative.
I love how full the one on the right is!

Here's a playful flower from Instructables.  You can get the tutorial here.

Food, Wine & Mod Podge, shares a great tutorial here for this little pretty.

Space Invaders!

There was a bit of a tournament happening today.  I'm not sure who won this round, but I kicked butt when it was time for Donkey Kong!

Wreath Mania

As you may have seen in a recent post, I tried to make my own yarn wreath after seeing so many of them on many blogs and in some Etsy shops.  My initial go (I think) was quite successful!  Which in turn, spurred me on to make more... and more.... and take special requests... lol.  Let's just say, my own Etsy shop, which has been in a state of a rather permanent vacation, may just have to re-open with some fresh new stock!  I really love making them!

So, without further ado, here are some of my recent creations.  Yarn wreaths... AWAY!!!

A smaller, sweet 8", spring green wreath with some neutral tone rosettes.

A vibrant 10" teal, with white and cream flowers and a pop of red.

A modern looking crisp grey 14" wreath with some pattern mixed in.  Cream, white, tan and rich purple rosettes finish it off.

A steampunk inspired 10" wreath!  A bit of feminine flair meets old world workings on a metal toned base.

I think this might be my favourite so far.  A colourful, almost circus inspired 10" wreath, with a bouquet of roses to finish it off.

I hope you've enjoyed my recent creations!  More are underway!

Small Intermission...

I haven't been able to post recently due to some computer issues... my laptop power adapter bit the dust *boo!*.  Hopefully, I'll get my replacement soon and can get back to some regular posting!  More 'Foster's Adventures', prettiness and yummy stuff!  And just wait until you see the new yarn wreaths I've made.  Mighty pretty!

Be back soon!
