Our Own Little Royal
The Royal Wedding...wasn't it beautiful?! I remember how much I loved Princess Diana when I was a little girl. I even have Princess Di and Charles wedding stamps! My little King of Hearts had to get in on the festivities. So this is in honor of the Royal Wedding. All the best Will & Kate!

Thanks Mother Nature, It's JUST What We Wanted!
Shingles! Yay! April showers don't only bring flowers, they also bring wind. Lots and lots of wind. High winds. The kind that prey on the on homes where the family is on a reduced income for the year (materity leave). The kind of 90km/h wind gust that takes the shingles right off the roof! Perfect timing! Thanks, Mother Nature, THANKS!
I'm not bitter... no, no lol. Does insurance cover this kind of thing? Well yes, it does BUT, the deductible is higher then the repair so it's not worth it. We got a referral for a roofing company, gave them a call and they had guys in our area, so we only had to wait about 45 minutes. Yay!!! They had the right colour shingles on hand, gave a quick quote and I let them get to it. With more rain on the way, waiting wasn't an option!
The heroes of the day!
Well this post is more of a vent then anything pretty, fun or creative. I'll make up for it! Let' hope that's the end of the roof problems for now. One thing is for sure, when we eventually do the entire roof, I'll call them again. They were great! And the patch is a pretty decent colour match for our 14 year old roof (yep, it's nearing the end of it's life).
In reality, I know it could have been a lot worse, so I am thankful for that. One house down the road from us not only had shingles come off... but the plywood too! Eeek!

A Love - Love Relationship With Yarn Wreaths
I've been seeing these yarn wreaths all over Etsy lately.... then I googled 'yarn wreaths'... and they are EVERYWHERE! Love them! How have I not seen these before?! I can't get enough of looking at them! So much I cannot contain my use of exclamation marks!! See!? I decided I had to create a lovely yarn wreath of my own. Some yarn shopping with my Mom and my little one, some felt for a few flowers on hand, some hot glue... and a project was born.
Using some wreath images from good ole Google as inspiration, I dove in. This could become a bit of an obsession! Oh my....
Pick out some yarn / wool. You can do one or multiple colours. I chose this lovely grey-blue yarn, with black and tan flecks in it for the main colour. Keep in mind, the thinner the yarn, the more times you will have to wrap it around the wreath.
Get yourself a foam wreath form. I suggest using that 40% coupon that comes in the weekly flyer for a certain craft store. You know the one! I believe my wreath was about 12 inches across.
Next, put on a movie or your favourite show, snuggle into the sofa and start wrapping! It actually didn't take me as long as I thought it would to do one layer... 45-60 minutes perhaps? I was trying to be sooooo neat and tidy.
First layer, done! So far so good. I decided to add some accent colours to give a little more interest.
I also added a second layer of the blue-grey yarn to make sure the foam wreath form was totally covered up. I must say, I was quite happy with the results! Now the question... stop here... or embellish with flowers. Onward I say! To the flowers!
These are flowers I did for another project of mine, a throw pillow with felt flowers on it, using a great tutorial from Craft Snob. There are many tutorials there for different styles of flowers. So do the flowers you like with the felt colours of your choice. I think I'll stick with the same style as above this time. Next wreath... I think I might do twisted fabric flowers (I've got several wreath versions in my head already!).
Flowers are done! After some playing around with the position of the flowers, it's time to get the hot glue gun out and attach them...
Here it is! How about some 'Oooo's' and 'Ahhhs'! I think it turned out fab! This would make a great gift for someone special... but I think this one's mine ;) Time to go find this baby the perfect little spot in the house!

Please Don't Adjust Your Set
I thought I'd share an Adventure shot from a while back... one for the couch potato perhaps? I know I'd watch the test pattern if it was this cute!
Can you believe Foster has been on 70 adventures already?! Definitely making good use of my camera :). Obviously not all of his adventures are on my blog, but I'll throw some old ones in here and there. You'll just have to keep an eye out for them!

Adventures in Baby Fooding
The morning of Easter Sunday, everyone was fast asleep except for me and baby. So down to the living room we go. Foster is pretty chill in the morning when he wakes up and likes to just lay on a blanket on the floor for a little bit, cuddling a blanket. I was feeling particularly motivated that morning and decided to get some baby food made. I've been making most of the baby food I give to Foster, except for meats. But veggies and fruits are always being done in the kitchen for him.
Carrots, yellow beans, green beans - oh my! Foster loves his veggies. Washed, trimmed, peeled and steamed.
The MB made short work of the veggies. It smelled like dinner at 9am... and coffee.
Ta-Da! Some went in the fridge, the rest into the freezer to get chummy with the pears, apples and plums that were already done. I never thought I would be making Fosters food, but I'm finding it quite easy to do so far. Plus, he likes the home made stuff better then the jar food! Yay Mommy!
Hope you all had a lovely Easter!

Action shot! Can't forget the sweet potato! (Ignore my dirty stove lol). Then comes the secret weapon.... the thing that makes baby food possible... the thing that makes Fosters wonderful world of tasty deliciousness go around........ that's right....
The original, Magic Bullet! *insert angelic music* No baby version here! We've had our trusty little MB for many years. It's still working great! The MB made short work of the veggies. It smelled like dinner at 9am... and coffee.

Hoppy Easter!
Foster was happily and eagerly snatching up Easter eggs almost as fast as that fluffy bunny could leave them behind!. Happy Easter everyone!

Where's My Harmonica?
We had a little trouble around the house this week... hence the lack of posts. As you can see, Foster got himself into a wee mess! Crimes of cuteness will do one in, every time. Luckily, we were able to sort the entire mess out... and Foster is free once again to go about his adventures!

6 Months To The Day
We're here already! Our little boy Foster, is 6 months old today! Actually, he's not so little.... he's VERY long (destined to be a tall boy!). While he is napping in my arms, I figured I would take these quiet few moments to do this post. I know before long, he wont want to curl up in my arms anymore. So I'll take what I can get now :). Our little photo shoot tuckered him out.
A very Happy Half Birthday to our sweet, little man!

DIY Flower Hair Clips
Here's one for the little girl in your life. Sweet flower hair clips and bobby pins complete with tutorial from yours truly. Enjoy!
Find some artificial flowers. Perhaps some that have over stayed their welcome in your home (make sure they're clean!). Different sizes and colours will give you more options. Next, dismantle the flowers. You can usually just pull them apart with your fingers.
Layer varying sized parts from different flowers. Play around until you get the look you want.
Get out your button stash, needle, thread and hair clip of your choice. Everyone should have a healthy button stash :)
Sew on your button of choice and give it a knot on the backside. You may continue with the thread and attach the clip of your choice. I add a dot of hot glue between the clip and flower as well, to make it really secure. I'm using a basic snap hair clip here.
You're done! That wasn't so hard, was it? You could also attach these lovelies to headbands if you prefer. Now all you have to do is put it in the hair of that little princess of yours!

Cutie Booties!
I just had to share a picture of these amazingly awesome, incredibly cute, brilliantly blue, sweet little booties that a friend named Amy, made for our little boy. If I had talent like this, Foster would have booties for every outfit he owns. These aren't the first pair of booties she has made for Foster. She crafted these lovely little caramel coloured ones this past holiday season as a gift for him as well. Aren't they lovely?
I'm so sad he's outgrown these ones... I love them so! But the pretty blue ones take their place quite wonderfully. Don't you think? Thanks again Amy... Foster approves!

Strange Visitors
You'll be happy to know, Foster was safe and sound, during this encounter, thanks to his tin foil beanie. The puppy was found, hours later, happily grazing in a field with some cows. Mooing.

The Adventure Continues
Well, he's at it again. Getting into all sorts of silly adventures with his trusty plush friends. Today, he decided to do a little shameless self promotion. I can't say I blame him... I mean, look at that cutie pie!
